Best movie you saw last year?Beloved. Toni Morrison is one of my favorite writers. When they usually make a movie out of a book, it's a fiasco, but they stuck to the book pretty good.

Who should win an honorary Oscar?Spike Lee. I know he says he really doesn't care, but his work is deserving and he's been ignored by the Academy.

What other category should there be?Best unconcerned for the Academy Award. And Spike would win.

Best movie you saw last year? Saving Private Ryan. I was surprised how good it was because I'm not a big Spielberg fan.

Who should win an honorary Oscar? Jeff Bridges.

What other category should there be?Best bloodiest film. Or how about best ironically bloody film, like A Simple Plan? And then one for gratuitous violence, like being chopped up in the kitchen or something.

Best movie you saw last year?I liked Ma Vie en rose. I liked it for the reason that I like any good movie, it told a story I hadn't heard.

Who should win an honorary Oscar? Jeanne Moreau.

What other category should there be?A couple years ago, Cronenberg got an award at Cannes for audacity with his movie Crash. It was audacious, original. They should have that at the Oscars.

Best movie you saw last year?Queen Margot. It's French. It was fabulous. The reconstruction of historical detail.

Who should win an honorary Oscar? Kubrick. Wim Wenders. Peter Greenaway.

What other category should there be?I never actually watch the Oscars. Part of it is because I don't own a TV. But even if I did, it's not terribly interesting.

Best movie you saw last year?Life Is Beautiful. It was emotionally powerful without being manipulative like Titanic.

Who should win an honorary Oscar?Atom Egoyan, who did The Sweet Hereafter.

What other category should there be?They should do it the way the Golden Globes are, separate drama and comedy, because I don't think Gwyneth Paltrow should win.

Best movie you saw last year?Titanic. I think it should win the Oscar again.

What other category should there be?Best rap music in a movie.

Best movie you saw last year?Buffalo 66. It was original.

Who should win an honorary Oscar?I guess I'd have to say Nick Nolte. He's very riveting. I know he's nominated this year, but I don't think he's going to get it.

What other category should there be?Most original personality. Because everyone is seeming more alike these days. There aren't any movie stars anymore.

Best movie you saw last year?Gummo. Was that last year? Anyway, I really liked it. There was a character, a little boy in a bunny hat. It was really cute.

Who should win an honorary Oscar?I like Tim Burton. I think I could be friends with him, his sense of humor, I can understand him.

What other category should there be?Best independent movie.
