For Rodriguez-Luna, a divorced mother of two, the recent federal plea was her second criminal conviction in the last five years, records show. In 1994, she was charged in Maryland with conspiring to distribute cocaine, for which she served about a year in prison. Following her release, Rodriguez-Luna returned to Manhattan, where she worked as a cleaning lady at the Javits Center until mid 1996. It was not long after that job ended that Rodriguez-Luna launched her new career in body modification.
