Are you scared to fly? These crashes have had no impact on me except to confirm my long-standing fear of flying.

Would you rather find out that EgyptAir was brought down by mechanical failure or a bomb?It would probably give me greater comfort to know it was mechanical.

Do you think our time of death is preordained? No. If you were going to say that in 2004 I'm going to be killed on my way to a Knicks game, I'd reject it outright. The people who were supposed to make reservations on that flight and didn't, didn't only because their wives told them to do something else first, like go to the dentist.

Are you scared to fly?I don't fly. If I have to go someplace, I take Amtrak. I used to jump out of planes for a living-I was in the Airborne Rangers when Iran-Contra was happening. It was nuts.

Would you rather find out that EgyptAir was brought down by mechanical failure or a bomb?I'd rather find out it was mechanical failure, but this being the second major crash out of JFK, what does it say about maintenance out there?

Do you think our time of death is preordained?Yes. Your number is up because God says it is.

Are you scared to fly? With flying, the law of averages is in your favor.

Would you rather find out that EgyptAir was brought down by mechanical failure or a bomb?Mechanical failure, but then you have to wonder about people's mistakes and whether they'll make them again.

Do you think our time of death is preordained? We live to die. If a higher power wants you, he'll take you. Heredity is God's will, too. He made you, so if you die from heart failure or diabetes, that's part of the plan.

Are you scared to fly?I still fly, but I'm anxious.

Would you rather find out that EgyptAir was brought down by mechanical failure or a bomb?Either way it's bad. Mechanical failure suggests there's no security at the airport, and terrorism is just bad for humanity.

Do you think our time of death is preordained?God has a plan. If I died in a plane crash and I'd lived a good life, I'd be OK with the idea that I was supposed to be here for just a particular period of time.

Are you scared to fly?I've been afraid to fly since I was nine years old and went to Puerto Rico on a flight with a lot of turbulence.

Would you rather find out that EgyptAir was brought down by mechanical failure or a bomb?It makes no difference because these people are dead, but mechanical failure would be more likely to bring closure to the families. At least it's something you can fix.

Do you think our time of death is preordained?No-the brick that falls on my head and kills me didn't have my name on it.

Are you scared to fly?According to the polls, it's the safest way to travel.

Would you rather find out that EgyptAir was brought down by mechanical failure or a bomb?I'd prefer that it were mechanical because I'd like to know who to be angry at-better it was a guy at JFK with a hangover than a terrorist.

Do you think our time of death is preordained? It's all an accident. If they hadn't gotten on that plane, those 215 people wouldn't all have died of heart attacks or car accidents on that very evening at that very time.

Are you scared to fly?My father has such a fear of flying that he forbids any of his family members to fly. He'll take a boat to Europe.

Would you rather find out that EgyptAir was brought down by mechanical failure or a bomb?A terrorist, because it would be easier to know who to vent your rage at.

Do you think our time of death is preordained? No. The people I work with believe just the opposite, that it's already in the cards.
