Issey to Love

Photographs by Sandra-Lee Phipps

"Curiosity and pleasure are at the heart of my work," Issey Miyake has said, and both were in abundance at the opening of his current Ace Gallery exhibition (275 Hudson Street). Delectably crumpled, deliciously rumpled, impressively puckered and punctured and pleated, a Miyake-besotted crowd turned out to honor the designer by dressing in his singular creations. The show, which includes artfully charred dresses and rooms where outfits dance on strings, is on view until February 29, 2000.
