Should gays be allowed to march in the St. Patrick’s Day parade? Yes, it’s the First Amendment. The people who don’t want them to march should know that their own children may grow up to be gay. I have a cousin who’s gay, and he’s a beautiful person.

Should politicians boycott the parade? If gays could march, then politicians would be free to just march to attract voters. Most people who vote are gay; in fact, most presidents are gay.

What was the last parade or rally you marched in? I go to all of them. My wife is Irish and black, so I go to the St. Patrick’s parade and she comes with me to the Puerto Rican Day parade.

Should gays be allowed to march in the St. Patrick’s Day parade? The parade organizers can’t claim it’s a private event if the whole city participates in it. Maybe 100 years ago, you could exclude groups of people, but not today. In college I was an usher at St. Patrick’s and the parade was great. Now it’s become an excuse for people to take off work, get drunk, and beat up other people a couple of blocks away.

Should politicians boycott the parade? I don’t care if my representative marches or not because it’s all about sucking up to voters anyway. On the other hand, I do think it’s wrong to march in support of a group that excludes others.

What was the last parade or rally you marched in? Bethel, Connecticut, 1979 Veterans Day parade. I marched with the Boy Scouts.

Should gays be allowed to march in the St. Patrick’s Day parade? Yes, it’s a free country, and in fact the Constitution should be rewritten to reflect the current population. It was written by and for white men, but the new one should mention blacks, Arabs, Dominicans, and Puerto Ricans.

Should politicians boycott the parade? Giuliani should boycott the parade because he’ll get a lot of publicity. He dresses up like a woman anyway.

Should gays be allowed to march in the St. Patrick’s Day parade? Ireland is a very conservative Catholic country where homosexuality was illegal until the 1970s. The problem is with Ireland, not with New York.

Should politicians boycott the parade? I don’t care what they do.

What was the last parade or rally you marched in? A local Memorial Day parade in the Bronx. I live in a very Irish neighborhood. The Irish will come out in kilts for anything.

Should gays be allowed to march in the St. Patrick’s Day parade? Yes, what people do is their own business. Many of my clients are gay and they’re great friends and bring me lots of business.

Should politicians boycott the parade? There’s a big problem with the separation of church and state. If politicians think prayers don’t belong in school, then why are they even thinking about marching in a parade that’s fundamentally Catholic and religious?

What was the last parade or rally you marched in? The Halloween parade and the Thanksgiving parade. Even though I’m not gay, I also go to the Gay Pride parade.

Should gays be allowed to march in the St. Patrick’s Day parade? I go back and forth. Currently I agree with the parade sponsors, who say that even though it’s a public parade, they are a private institution.

Should politicians boycott the parade? If a politician has a well-thought-out reason for staying home or, for that matter, for marching, they should do it.

What was the last parade or rally you marched in? The homecoming parade in high school.
