"Tell me what democracy looks like! This is what democracy looks like!" the 200,000-plus crowd chanted last Saturday, their voices rising in an anti-war procession that reached from Times Square to Washington Square Park. Though lots of people settled for just carrying placards, others used their bodies as billboards, coming in costume or even, in some cases, turning their very faces into living peace symbols.

This is what democracy looks like.
