CORRECTION

Tom Robbins's "Refuge of Scoundrels" (August 6-12) misattributed a quote to neuropsychologist Dr. Wilfred van Gorp regarding mobster Vincent Gigante, who recanted his claims of mental illness. Van Gorp's actual quote to The New York Times was this: "The guy on the tapes is not the one I examined. I hear the tapes and I hear a quasi-normal person talking. The question is how do you explain it."
