Personality

Most out-of-towners consider it a coup to perform in New York even once per season, but Philadelphia-based dancer-choreographer Nichole Canuso practically commutes. Involved with three Philly troupes, she recently played a goofily narcissistic, white-clad clown in Pig Iron Theatre Company's Flop; she returns with Moxie Dance Collective and Headlong Dance Theater to perform her own work and that of equally intriguing Philly colleagues. Canuso's blend of understated caricature and over-the-top physical comedy travels well.

Philly Feet
(Lincoln Center Out of Doors, Wednesday at 5:30, free)

The five-member Moxie presents four works, including Canuso's T43, a playful exploration of math and gravity. Also on the program are Myra Bazell, a highly physical dance-theater artist, and Phrenic New Ballet, a multimedia ensemble founded by three former Pennsylvania Ballet dancers.

Headlong Dance Theater
(Dance Theater Workshop, September)

A member of the quirkily accessible Headlong since 1997, Canuso appeared with them here in their Bessie-winning St*r W*rs. The company performs Britney's Inferno, a foray into the dark depths of Dante by way of Britney-sized pop stardom.

Splitstream
(Dance Theater Workshop, November)

Canuso will premiere Better I'd Stayed Up, a magical dance-theater work inspired by the lavish fairy tales of Italo Calvino.
