The bright yellow facade of Play lures passersby in with a big frosted-glass sign that reads "Eat Drink Smoke Bowl Shoot." No man or woman can resist these basic enticements. Once past the hefty bouncer of this three-month-old lounge on Queens Boulevard, you may never have to go anywhere else again. The 10,000-square-foot space is aglow in yellow, red, and purple lights that create a dim setting for grown-up entertainment. Five mega-screens are scattered throughout, offering locals additional stimulus as they pick up a game of pool at one of 17 tables or strike out at one of four bowling lanes. If this is too athletic for a Friday night, there's plenty of sideline room near the 40-foot fiber-optic glass bar, where you can order a Strike (a sweet concoction of Ketel One, apple schnapps, pineapple juice, and cinnamon; $8) from the themed cocktail menu while munching on decent fare like the requisite mozzarella sticks ($6) and chicken tenders ($7). Though this is more of a neighborhood joint now, it shouldn't take long before others start trekking over to the borough for a little fun. In the meantime, consider it foreplay.
