The best things in life are free, which makes the 18th annual Maydaycelebration in Tompkins Square Park one of the best things in life. Sweetening the pie is the lineup, which includes the original Brooklyn badass techno jock Frankie Bones and Breakbeat Science's drum'n'bass technician Dara. Also spinning are events' organizer Jason BK, DJ Chrome, MC Baba Israel, Pow Wow, and Nic Fit. The yuppies who gentrified the East Village will be well advised to either suck it up or go to the Upper West Side, where they belong—the music being played is not for the faint of heart. As Blackkat is one of the more politically aware organizations in town, there will be info tables and voter registration available throughout the day.
