And that's not all: The grandmotherly concert pianist (Alicia de Larrocha, anyone?) is shacking up with a student half her age. Coming out was bad enough, but when Mom (All About My Mother's Rosa María Sardà) reveals to her daughters that she has signed over her retirement savings to her Czech girlfriend (Eliska Sirová), the three sisters conspire to nip the budding romance. Most of the ensuing screwball complications fall flat, and the film narrowly misses turning into Bulgarian Loversthe estrogen version. Fortunately, Leonor Watling (who spent most of Talk to Her in a coma) plays the spectacularly neurotic middle daughter with dizzying abandon and single-handedly saves the day.
