Benefit parties for the Democrats are so prevalent that it's getting to the point where I expect every event to be a Kerry fundraiser and all of the local DJs to go poor for the greater good. (Funny, you don't see any Bush music-based events, since Republicans are rich bores). Party the night away for a good cause with the likes of skilled DJs Mark Ronson (celeb DJ extraordinaire), Jeannie Hopper (Ms. Political, WBAI radio host), and a guest slot from Sean Lennon (maybe he'll bring that Jagger chick he's dating!). Local bands Morningwood and the A.M. also join in. Thursday @ 8, Spirit, 530 W 27th, 212.268.9477, concertsforkerry.org

Remember when you could go to an electro party without seeing bad '80s clothes? Yes, it really happened, around 1999, about the same time when "Space Invaders Are Smoking Grass" was invading the turntables of many a DJ. It was also around this time that Ed DMX of the DMX Krew released We Are DMX, a post-pop-electro offering that fit perfectly in that pantheon. He returns—with another late-'90s refugee, Richard Fearless of Death in Vegas—to survey the electroclash carnage in Brooklyn. Also appearing: Cowboy Mark. Saturday @ 10, Volume, 99 N 13th St, Bklyn, 718.388.3588

Montreal DJ Fred Everything has probably been sitting back and laughing at all the trendies running around New York. While the rest of us have been chasing fly-by-night musical genres of questionable viability, Fred's favored style—deep house (you could even call it tech house)—is still standing. He visits to promote his new record, Light of Day, which features an impressive roster of guests—including DJ Heather (who sings) and Roy Davis Jr. (he sings too). With Sleepyface, Boo, Kevin Finn, and Mike Prieto. Friday @ 10, Sullivan Room, 218 Sullivan, 212.252.2151
