Anarchists Cooking

Bl(A)ck Tea Society serves alternative brew

More than 230 years after the Sons of Liberty hurled tea from a ship into Boston Harbor, a new coalition is following in their rebellious wake. The Bl(A)ck Tea Society is a band of 70 Bostonians dedicated to ensuring the Democrats don't get off easy during this week's convention.

Formed last summer, the anarchist chapter is setting up shop in a local church to coordinate protest groups like the Urban Guerrilla Liberation Front and the Pirates Against Bush.

On Tuesday, July 27, the society plays host to the "Really Really Democratic Bazaar," a gathering on the Boston Common that's meant to serve as an antidote to political smarm. The fair offers "liberated food," programs like "Running a Diesel Car on Waste Vegetable Oil," and performances from local punk bands.
