Noise From the Front

For the week of November 1–7, 2006

With an estimated 200 million aliens (bands and solo artists, industry types and assorted hangers-on, dealers, groupies, fans, etc.) coming to New York City for CMJ week, traversing the Island and its environs will not be the easiest task for our fellow citizens. Bide your time and keep your psyche psyched with music from the following artists (many of whom are on a mission all their own): Thrill to the bliss of ex-Shudder to Think vocalist Craig Wedren's dreamy tenor; get your jazz on with Ornette Coleman via a new disc; cuddle with your beloved to the shoegazey gauze of Baltimore's Beach House; scare yourself silly with grindy noise made by the tastily named Made Out of Babies; get in the community spirit with the Hungry March Band, who come to us roaring out of Brooklyn; get sloppy with Matt & Kim's latest; then go folk yourself to the strains of Josephine Foster.

Make fudge, not war.
