Celebrating a half-century of Village Voice film criticism—from the personal to the political to the comical to the nearly impenetrable—the book, assembled by former Voicefilm editor Dennis Lim, comprises contributions by Voiceinstitutions (Jonas Mekas, Andrew Sarris, current critic J. Hoberman) and relative unknowns (Oliver Stone?), while homing in on 150 indispensable films and the critiques that panned, lauded, dissected, and occasionally, made them.
