Kenneth Eng in Custody

On May 2, the Voice reported that Asian supremacist Kenneth Eng considered Virginia Tech killer Cho Seung-hui his hero, and regretted that he'd never committed his own murderous rampage while a student at NYU. That piece by Chloé Hilliard brought Eng to the attention of the NYPD, which found that just two days before the article appeared, on April 30, Eng had allegedly threatened to kill neighbor Marissa Addison and her mother in front of their Fresh Meadows home. According to police, Eng told her, "If your dog bites me I will kill you and your family," and then swung a hammer at one of Addison's two dogs and at her mother, missing her by inches. Police arrested Eng, and on May 11 he was arraigned and formally charged with second- degree assault and menacing, first-degree possession of a weapon, and second-degree harassment. Eng is being held in jail without bail, and the court agreed to a request by his attorney for Eng to undergo a mental examination. He is scheduled to return to court on June 13.
