MIX IT UP

View cutting-edge works—or be a part of them

Given New Yorkers’ fondness for therapy, there may be long lines to see the whimsical Miami-based artist Bert Rodriguez at this year’s Whitney Biennial 2008. Inside a white cube, Rodriguez (that’s “Dr. Rodriguez” to you) will be giving art-therapy lessons to “patients” and then broadcasting them outside his office. The performance will be held at the Park Avenue Armory through March 23, along with numerous other interactive installations, a 24-hour film screening, a dance marathon, and concerts (including Gang Gang Dance) as part of a new effort to make the Whitney Museum’s cutting-edge survey of contemporary American art even livelier.
March 6-23, 2008
