Wouldn’t it be nice to go to a party and hear something other than played-out songs by Justin Timberlake and Rihanna? Seriously, how many times can you pretend to get excited about the DJ playing “Don’t Stop the Music?” The Funk ’N’ Waffles party offers a welcome change of pace with exactly what the name implies: some funk and buttery waffles. Originating in the university town of Syracuse, the party has moved south, doling out the Belgian goodness and live tunes that have been entertaining up north since 2005. Funk bands the Rozatones, Sophistifunk, and special guest Steve hype up the dance floor with music that’s promised to help you “get down and eat up”—’cause as long as the music is pumping, the waffles will be sizzling.
