SEX, DRUGS & TANGO

In the 2005 play Disposable Men, which ended with the audience shooting gun-shaped laser pointers at an innocent black man, James Scruggs eloquently described the sufferings of African-American males. His newest work, (RUS)H, an update of the Icarus story, looks at another disposable man, Rus, who, after a car accident, embarks on a downward spiral that leads him away from his wife Sirene toward a mysterious hustler and his world of sex, drugs, and violence. Kristin Marting directs this modernized myth, featuring multimedia techniques, movement work, and tango music. Marc Bovino, Chandra Thomas, Dax Valdes, Luis Vega, and Lathrop Walker star.
