ALL GROWED UP

Happy birthday, Dixon Place

Dixon Place, the venerable downtown performance space, is finally as old as the latest flock of theater-school graduates utilizing its cozy stage. At 22, this haven for experimental theater, readings, and works-in-development is itself graduating to a full-fledged theater as soon as it raises enough funds. For now, you can still grab a seat on one of the mismatched couches in the living-room-sized space for the Money of the Month Club. Tonight’s event stars Split Britches’ Peggy Shaw and Lois Weaver, two legends of queer feminist performance art, who will be doing “some old stuff and some new stuff from Miss America,” which will premiere at La Mama in June.
