DARLING DUO

Gettin' cozy with Zooey Deschanel and M. Ward

Nancy and Lee for hipsters

Nancy and Lee for hipsters

Indie-film girl Zooey Deschanel and indie-rock guy M. Ward met while recording a duet of Richard and Linda Thompson's "When I Get to the Border" for the soundtrack to last year's The Go-Getter; now they've made an album together as She & Him and are supporting it on the road with a series of live dates. The CD is a modest little charmer comprising Deschanel originals and a handful of covers; she sings lead while Ward plays guitar, produces, and lends the occasional backup vocal that provides an appealingly woozy Nancy-and-Lee vibe. Judging by her songs, Deschanel is the proud owner of a vintage vinyl collection full of records by Peggy Lee, the Ronettes, Blossom Dearie, and Kitty Wells; as it happens, those ladies are probably the only ones Ward hasn't worked with over the past couple of years. Come for the novelty; stay for the tunes. With the A-Bones. At 7, also Tuesday, Hiro Ballroom, 363 West 16th Street, ticketmaster.com, $20 MIKAEL WOOD

[COMEDY]

CHELSEA IS BURNING

A woman who overshares

The rest of us may try to forget our most dreadful sexual moments, but comedian Chelsea Handler mines hers for all she can get. Whether she's rehashing an "encounter" with a midget, or popping off about discovering her parents doing it, Handler revels in the details. The New Jersey native has starred in a self-titled sketch show, the Oxygen series Girls Behaving Badly, and, most recently, has joined the exclusively male ranks of late-night TV with E!'s Chelsea Lately. And check out her book, My Horizontal Life, which should give you an enticing preview of her stand-up act. At 9:30, also Tuesday, Carolines, 1626 Broadway, 212-757-4100, $35 ARACELI CRUZ
