Weââ¬â¢re a little worried about attending tonightââ¬â¢s 826NYC Art Show, a benefit for the Dave Eggersââ¬âfounded writing center for children in Brooklyn, because the auctioneer is none other than funnyman John Flansburgh of They Might Be Giants. So, you see, weââ¬â¢ll be having too much to drink at the pre-auction cocktail hour, then laughing too much at Flansburghââ¬â¢s jokes, and thenââ¬âbefore you know itââ¬âbuying way too many pieces of art with the money we do not have. Works for sale include the quirky McSweeneyââ¬â¢s-approved drawings of Marcel Dzama (of the Royal Art Lodge), humorous watercolors by Jockum Nordström and Mamma Andersson, and the haunting photography of An-My Lê. On second thought, we canââ¬â¢t think of a better way to splurge.
