High-minded computer glitches cool down July
The choice of Christian Fenneszand Ryuichi Sakamoto as part of a summer concert series is bizarre and unlikely enough to be exciting: two cool, cerebral composers playing to the after-work crowd on the Ides of July in the glassed-in confines of the World Financial Center’s Winter Garden. Cendre, the duo’s 2007 album, saw the sometime soundtrack (and high-end ringtone) purveyor Sakamoto at the piano, playing faintly atmospheric tonal patterns while Fennesz, an Austrian laptop maverick, filled in the gaps; expect both dudes to look extremely serious and stationary live. It’ll be minimal enough to require some work on your part, but you’re probably getting summer Fridays off anyway by now, right?
