RAINING REVOLUTION

Rock, romance, heartbreak, and the Purple One

In the 1984 hit Purple Rain, the Artist Formerly Known as Prince plays “The Kid,” an up-and-coming rocker who must fight off his personal demons in order to keep his two loves intact: his band, the Revolution, and his lady interest, Apollonia. Considering that the film grossed more than $80 million at the box office, spawned three Billboard hits (“Let’s Go Crazy,” “Purple Rain,” “When Doves Cry”), and snagged Prince an Oscar for Best Original Song Score, you should be able to forgive the acting.
