LOONEY TOONS

The return of the city’s largest animation festival

Wanna see George Bush in a shoot-out with Osama? Or a woodsman battle God? Or a zombie decapitate everything in its path? The fifth annual Animation Block Party, the city’s largest animation festival, is where you can find the best in twisted gross-out humor, featuring more than 100 short films by the world’s best independent, professional, and student animators. The three-day cartoon extravaganza kicks off tonight at Rooftop Films, with music by Plushgun and an after-party with free beer at nearby Matchless (557 Manhattan Avenue). On Saturday and Sunday, the festival moves to BAM, with films about everything from a curious nun to an Eggorthanus Unicornus—whatever that is. Tonight’s screening starts at 8, Rooftop Films at Automotive High School, 50 Bedford Avenue; continues Saturday and Sunday at BAM, 30 Lafayette Avenue, Brooklyn.
Fri., July 25, 8 p.m.; July 26-27, 2008
