GREEN EGGS AND KOONS

The Met’s rooftop gets a little crazier

So there’s this group of college kids who plan various gatherings at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, like last year’s toga party and some science thing about mummies and sex (clever). Well, for their next event, An Evening With Jeff Koons and Dr. Seuss, we hope someone remembers to bring the acid. If you thought downing cocktails on a rooftop among stainless-steel balloon animals wasn’t surreal enough, try keeping off the ledge after a screening of Dr. Seuss’s only live-action musical, The 5,000 Fingers of Dr. T, featuring pianos the size of football fields in a fantasy world reminiscent of The Wizard of Oz. The 1953 trailer excitedly proclaims that the “T stands for tremendous, terrific, tuneful, and entertainment (spelled backwards).” Obviously.
