More About
For the 38th year, the Lincoln Center Out of Doorsfestival continues its longstanding tradition of keeping the sizzle in summer with outstanding music and dance performances from local, national, and international artists. Opening night features flamenco at its finest as performed by the incomparable Soledad Barrio and Noche Flamenca along with gypsy jam guitarist Stephane Wrembel. Other highlights of the three-week celebration include Doug Elkins & Friends Fräulein Maria (a modern rendition of The Sound of Music) and a sure-to-be dazzling performance by Cyro Baptistas percussion ensemble Beat the Donkey, which features Brazilian drums, tap, and capoeira. Closing the festivities is the 25th Annual Roots of American Musical Festival, boasting the likes of rocker chick Patti Smith and the Southern comfort of the Soul Queen of New Orleans herself, Irma Thomas.
