An unlikely venue comes to an unsurprising end. Say what you will about the last three years of shows at McCarren Park Pool (appalling levels of hipster nudity, a decidedly unsanitary Slip ’n Slide, that dead body they found there earlier this year): It’s become part of a whole lot of locals’ summer ritual. Biblically, or maybe just municipally, the pool’s to be filled with actual water, and tonight, the venue makes its last stand. Sonic Youth—the de facto civil servant in charge of administering to expiring rock clubs—provide the fireworks; demolition-specialists Wolf Eyes, Vivian Girls, and Times New Viking are on warm-up duty.
