REDRUM! REDRUM!

See Kubrick’s horror classic outdoors—if you dare

He’s a father, a husband, a writer, currently a hotel caretaker, and he’s losing his mind. But let’s not be quick to judge: If you had a pushover for a wife and a son with an imaginary BFF living in his mouth who were constantly distracting you from finishing the book—which will most likely be about a boring workaholic—while trying to maintain a grand hotel that’s closed for the winter, you’d want to kill them, too. And if you’re Jack Nicholson, starring in The Shining, then you most certainly have the right to chase them around with an ax. The artful 1980 Stanley Kubrick film still ranks as one of the scariest movies of all time and forever typecast Nicholson as someone not to be messed with (“Heeeeere’s Johnny!”). Watching it outdoors among strangers at night shouldn’t make it all that frightening, right? Let’s just hope no one is wearing a bear suit.
