Director Kevin Smith knows a thing or two about shooting on a budget: His little indie baby turned mega–cult hit Clerks launched his career and inspired scads of young dreamers to pick up a camera. So who better to headline IFP’s 30th annual Independent Film Week than the IFP alum? Tonight he’ll discuss what it takes to make your first feature film and also give the behind-the-scenes scoop on his new film Zack and Miri Make a Porno, starring Seth Rogen and Elizabeth Banks. But IFW isn’t all about Smith: The week also features free screenings by CUNY graduates and a first look at films slated for the festival circuit in a “Sneak Preview” showcase, as well as a slew of documentaries and narrative shorts.
