Tompkins Square Park goes Ginsberg again with the fifth annual Howl Festival, a three-day cultural smorgasbord of poetry, music, theater, painting, dance, and food. Opening things up is the Allen Ginsberg Poetry Festival, wherein distinguished word-meisters from all over town gather to read the famous poet-visionarys Howl. Then stick around for Mistress Formikas soiree, along with an art auction to be held at the Bowery Poetry Club. Other festival highlights include the Cockettes (paired with San Frans Thrillpeddlers), and Chi Chi Valenti and Johnny Dynells Howlucination 08: Lowlife City, a bawdy theatrical showcase filled with all your favorite burlesque, drag, and sundry performers, including the likes of Debbie Harry, Joey Arias and Basil Twist, the World Famous *BOB*, Dirty Martini, Johnny Porkpie, and Nasty Canasta. So dont just stand there waiting to be run down by the drunken taxicabs of Absolute Reality . . .
