HECHO EN  MEXICO

Cinco de Mayo’s got nothing on this party

Entering its fifth year, Celebrate Mexico Now 2008 has earned a reputation for being the city’s only major festival to embrace the best—and hottest—contemporary acts with Mexican roots. Taking place during Mexico’s Independence Week celebration, the festival (which runs through September 15) features a wide array of cultural offerings, including dance, music, film, readings, panel discussions, and, of course, delicious cuisine, with some of the best Mexican restaurants providing three-course, prix-fixe menus. Tonight’s kick-off party at Hecho en Dumbo features DJ Giovanni Escalera (Sweet Electra producer) spinning his cool electro-lounge beats alongside Nacotheque’s Amylu, who’s sure to have the new-wave dance-pop bases covered. And with Hecho en Dumbo’s signature chorizo, grilled meats, organic veggies, hand-made tortillas, and guac, it’ll be easy to stay energized all night.
Mondays-Sundays, 10 a.m. Starts: Sept. 8. Continues through Sept. 15, 2008
