Spirited Away

(Hayao Miyazaki, 1992). In Miyazaki’s first digitally animated feature, a young girl passes through a forest en route to the her new home when the family stumbles into a world populated by the Japanese gods and her greedy unpleasant parents are turned into pigs. That’s just for starters—this complex and resonant fantasy then develops into something like a masterpiece.
