FEELING LOVELESS?

MBV try to live up to the legend

Those without the dough (or the wheels) to see the reunited shoegaze legends at the All Tomorrow’s Parties festival in the Catskills still have two opportunities in town to see if My Bloody Valentine can live up to the legend that’s grown around frontman Kevin Shields and his bandmates over the 17 years it’s taken him to make any headway on the long-delayed followup to 1991’s Loveless. Given that nostalgia-soaked reunion gigs are rarely judged by the merits of the music you’re actually hearing, it’s all the better for MBV, as they always aimed to deafen their paying audiences anyway.
