It’s been 10 years since the Public Theater opened a cabaret next-door, which has since become one of New York’s pre-eminent small performance spaces. In honor of this decade of success, performers and producers are returning to Joe’s Pub to revive past triumphs. One of those is the independent curator and producer Earl Dax, who put on his first New York show, Mike & Marga, at Joe’s Pub five years ago. Tonight, the hilarious Mike Albo and Marga Gomez return to the space to revive some of their best comedy and social commentary. Albo—a/k/a “The Critical Shopper” columnist for the New York Times—strikes a particularly funny chord with his chatty cell-phone-screamer, a character who is desperately trying to reach someone named Amanda. As in: “Amanda! Amanda!”
