WHAT’S UP, SHORTY?

Brevity can sure make a statement

We’re going to make this short. The fourth annual New York City Short Film Festival (NYC Shorts) is back, featuring a stellar array of 29 films from across the globe. Among tonight’s selections: Ben Hakim’s The Elevator, in which two strangers—a dude and dudette—get stuck together for 23 minutes and are changed for life; Thomas Hefferon’s The Confession, about a young man who tries to confess his sins to a priest who’d rather gossip about the local ladies; and Juho Kuosmanen’s Roadmarkers, about a world where people use violence rather than words to express feelings. Saturday includes a kid’s program at noon.
Fri., Sept. 19, 8 p.m., 2008
