THE DEVIL INSIDE

One of the scariest movies of all time turns 40

If you can't trust your neighbors, your doctor, or even your husband, well, whom can you? That's the chilling predicament the young, pregnant Rosemary Woodhouse (played by Mia Farrow and co-starring her iconic pixie haircut) finds herself in in Roman Polanski's 1968 psychological thriller Rosemary's Baby. In honor of the film's 40th anniversary, Film Forum appropriately opens the movie's week-long run on Halloween. Not recommended for anyone with an overactive imagination, the nightmarish story follows Rosemary on her paranoid quest to prove her neighbors belong to a coven of witches. The exceptional cast includes Ruth Gordon, who won the Oscar for her over-the-top performance as the batty neighbor who's a little too pushy with those homemade health shakes, and John Cassavetes, as Rosemary's actor husband who's a little too friendly with the batty neighbor.
