STORY TIME

Alec Baldwin reads you great fiction

"My mother said that as a boy I was never without my old blanket: I slept with it, ate with it, and dragged it along behind me like an animal on a leash," begins Julia Slavin's short story, "Covered." Tonight, Alec Baldwin tells you the rest of the tale at An Evening With the Believer, in which Ed Park (Personal Days) and Heidi Julavits (The Uses of Enchantment), co-editors of the quirky McSweeney's magazine The Believer, share the short fiction they admire most with performances by Baldwin and others still to be announced. Also on the program is a reading of "The Honored Dead" by Breece D'J Pancake, a talented writer who mysteriously took his own life in 1979 at the age of 26 shortly after publishing his stories in The Atlantic Monthly.
