WILD THING

Move your booty to Girl Talk’s megamix

Gregg Gillis may not be getting rich from his latest album as Girl Talk—you can download Feed the Animals for whatever price you like from illegalart.net—but dude’s making bank on the road: All three of his shows at Terminal 5 (on Saturday, Sunday, and Tuesday) are sold out. Like Radiohead, whose innovative In Rainbows release inspired Animals’ online rollout, Gillis can afford to sacrifice record sales because he provides onstage what so few of his laptop-jockey peers do: entertainment. (Even in this economy, a good time is a valuable commodity.) Animals doesn’t break from the Girl Talk script; it’s an hour-long booty-moving megamix stitched together from hundreds (maybe thousands) of pop-song fragments. At Terminal 5, expect to hear its highlights—Britney Spears’s “Gimme More” over Air’s “Sexy Boy,” anyone?—and to see somebody’s privates. With the Death Set and CX KiDTRONiK on Saturday; Grand Buffet and Hearts of Darknesses on Sunday; and Prefuse 73 on Tuesday.
Sat., Nov. 15, 8:30 p.m.; Sun., Nov. 16, 8:30 p.m.; Tue., Nov. 18, 8:30 p.m., 2008
