HANUKKAH IN HOBOKEN

Light the Menorah with Yo La Tengo

Starting tonight, Hoboken indie-pop fixtures Yo La Tengo lure us across the Hudson once again for their (mostly) annual Hanukkah shows at Maxwell's—eight wondrous, cover-heavy evenings of YLT accompanied by comedic and musical guests of cranial-bursting proportions. Lineups are always kept top-secret, but 2007's included Amy Poehler, John Oliver, and Sarah Vowell, and power-pop luminaries the dB's, indie-rock vets Versus, and Mudhoney's Mark Arm. Unsurprisingly, these shows sell out at once, but the ticketless needn't fret: There's always their New Year's Eve concert with the Feelies and the Vivian Girls at the Wellmont Theatre in Montclair. The PATH train awaits.
Dec. 21-28, 8:30 p.m., 2008
