Casual fans of the great English post-punk band Joy Division probably had all their JD needs satisfied by the spate of media chatter surrounding last year's Control, Anton Corbijn's arty Ian Curtis biopic. Hard-core devotees, though—people who bought Rhino's New Order reissues and noticed the sound problems that bassist Peter Hook complained about on his MySpace page, let's say—are advised to check out Joy Division: The Atrocity Exhibition, which kicks off tonight with a screening of music-video director Grant Gee's 2007 documentary on the band. After the film, DJs Chuby242, Shred, and Raymi7 will spin records by the extended JD family (Monaco fans represent!) and give away prizes including T-shirts and, to one lucky little gloomhound, a vinyl copy of Joy Division's debut EP, An Ideal for Living.
