Hanukkah’s over, but Hoffman’s just begun
Singer and stand-up comic Jackie Hoffman is the female Jim Carrey (except for the whole movie-star thing), as she’s built quite a career on her ability to contort her facial features. As a Joe’s Pub regular, Hoffman has also delighted Jews and goyim alike with her original holiday songs like, “It’s Shavuos”—quite possibly the first-ever satirical tune about the oft-overlooked holiday. In Scraping the Bottom: Special Holiday Edition, Hoffman will perform some of her greatest seasonal hits. “Apparently, if I don’t do a show around the Christian holidays, homosexuals all over the city kill themselves,” she explains, “so I thought it was a public service to mankind.”
