Fork in the Road at Txikito

This week, I’m at Txikito, Alexandra Raij’s new Basque tapas spot. The restaurant has got a good thing going on: the service is casual but on point, the room is simple and cozy, and the food is tasty and fun to share. A soft poached quail egg on a sofrito capape might not change your life, but it’s awfully nice as part of your dinner–as are blistered Basque peppers and salt cod with nuggets of fried headcheese. The specials tend to be overpriced, and it’s often a pain to get a seat, but still, this is a reastaurant that’s easy to like.
