Carrie Rodriguez is a local Austin transplant who has plenty of friends in high places: Lyle Lovett invited her to play one of her earliest live gigs; Bill Frisell appeared on her 2006 solo debut, Seven Angels on a Bicycle; and her last year’s She Ain’t Me featured songwriting collaborations with Gary Louris of the Jayhawks and ex-Semisonic dude Dan Wilson. (Hey, Wilson cowrote a Dixie Chicks hit.) Tonight, Rodriguez will play solo with only her guitar and her fiddle for accompaniment, and that should provide an opportunity to admire the elegance of her songs, which can call to mind those of Lucinda Williams (minus a couple of decades of heartbreak and misery).
