LOVE UNDERGROUND

Take the subway to this new play

We usually avoid spending more time on the subway than we have to, but this new site-specific, live-action show about building New York's underground may be worth the commute. IRT: A Tragedy in Three Stations begins in 2004 with two subway workers who discover love letters that were left in a forgotten corner of an IRT station. Using period costumes, custom traveling sets, mobile lighting, and live music, the production goes back in time to 1904 to tell the fictional story of a union carpenter, Thomas Fowler; a subway financier, August Belmont; and a kind-hearted nurse, Clara. Writer Jeff Stark directs the theatrical traffic.
