Neil Fucking Diamond

This Diamond is a burlesquer’s best friend

It’s a wonder the neo-burlesque world didn’t pick up on Neil Diamond sooner. Against all odds, he all but singlehandedly brought sequins into the 21st century when they were at their most unfashionable. His songs are just begging for someone to take their clothes off to them (“Girl, You’ll Be a Woman Soon”? “Coming to America”? Easy). Finally, the lithe ladies of Sweet and Nasty Burlesque honor the Jewish Elvis and his one bad career choice (an ill-conceived adaptation of The Jazz Singer) in The Jazz Stripper. Tigger!, Nasty Canasta, and Creamy Stevens, among other scantily clad babes, will take it off for the man who put “Brooklyn Roads” on the map.
