DollHouse

Mabou Mines stages Ibsen's classic

Mabou Mines’s version of The Dollhouse is a bit at war with itself. On the one hand, it’s an almost cartoonish take-apart of the Ibsen classic. On the other, the show’s ending demands the kind of emotional investment in the characters that the rest of the piece mostly subverts. Nonetheless, DollHouse is a delight in its revival at St. Ann’s Warehouse. Lee Breuer’s production—which uses a number of dwarf actors—is constantly inventive and playful, and its eerie, coup-de-théàtre finale is not to be missed.
Tuesdays-Saturdays, 8 p.m.; Sundays, 4 p.m. Starts: Feb. 14. Continues through March 8, 2009
