The terms "hard rock" and "classical ballet" don't typically go together, but in the case of veteran choreographer and "punk ballerina" Karole Armitage and her troupe, Armitage Gone! Dance, they make perfect sense. Celebrating 30 years of Armitage's boundary-pushing work, the Kitchen presents Think Punk!, a program featuring selections from her landmark works as well as a world premiere. Among the works included are Drastic Classicism, a 1981 piece performed at furious speeds to a score by Rhys Chatham; Wild Thing (1987), featuring a set by Jeff Koons and music by Jimi Hendrix; and her newest work, Mashup, with an original score by Daniel Iglesia. Noise rock/free jazz improvisers Talibam! provide the aural assault.
