FROM HEDDA TO HENRI

Alexander Burns's Henri Gabler

Henrik Ibsen’s Hedda Gabler famously ends with the line, “People don’t do such things!” But among the things people will do: continue to adapt and update the drama. Exigent Theatre premieres Alexander Burns’s version in which Hedda is Henri, the 19th-century spawn of a U.S. president and an early advocate of gay marriage.
