SOUND THE ALARM

Big Art Group stages a cry for help

In 1912, the United States adopted the Morse code signal S.O.S. (three dots, three dashes, three dots) as the indicator of maritime distress. While Big Art Group is not a ship, nor—judging from its excellent press and robust touring schedule—is it currently undergoing any particular difficulties, director Caden Manson has chosen SOS as the title of their latest show. This forest set piece combines live performance, real-time video, and furry animal costumes to explore, in part, "the notion of sacrifice to make space for a new beginning." But don't expect Big Art to sacrifice its familiar frenetic style and cheerfully imperfect acting technique.
Thursdays-Saturdays, 8 p.m. Starts: March 19. Continues through March 28, 2009
